Kicking off the holidays, $MOMO presents, in partnership
with CBC Radio, a dramatic reading accompanied by choir of Charles
Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
The production will feature well-know CBC Radio
personalities Judy Maddren, Barbara Budd, Vince Carlin, and Kevin
Sylvester, as well as Canadian actress Rosemary Dunsmore and
This year’s production features a line up of local
celebrity readers including Oakville’s own Juno award winning artist
Susan Aglukark as well as CBC Radio production founder and renowned news
broadcaster Judy Maddren. Reading A Christmas Carol along with Susan
Aglukark and Judy Maddren are; Barbara Budd, Canadian actress, narrator
and radio host with CBC Radio, Vince Carlin Oakville actor and longtime
journalist boasting 23 years with CBC in various roles, Rosemary
Dunsmore an award winning international actress, director and teacher,
as well as Art Hindle leading Canadian actor and director.
Kevin Sylvester, award winning illustrator, writer and
broadcaster, rounds out the celebrity line up not only reading but is
also donating an exclusive limited-edition linocut. The one-of-a-kind
linocut, 'Birdboushka',
is being donated as an intermission game prize during Friday evening’s
performance. Last year Kevin helped raise over $30,000 through his
fundraising linocut. Linocut, a printmaking technique developed at the
turn of the 20th century, is an art form that uses linoleum as the
relief surface for carved designs. Kevin guarantees his works are
one-of-a-kind by limiting the copies made of each design and destroying
the blocks after the desired prints are impressed. Check out the full
CBC story and fundraising linocut history at:
www.cbc.ca/toronto/features/sots2009/.
The St.
Matthew Parish Choir will provide the musical accompaniment and festive
carols.
Kick back and relax during Friday’s performance or
introduce the family to this timeless classic on Sunday when kids under
12 are free. What better way to begin the holiday season than with a
festive reading of a traditional favourite.
